Upon arrival at the small airport in Ilulissat, a hotel representative will be there to greet you and assist you with the onward journey to the camp. The transfer to Saqqaq is in a closed, heated boat which departs Ilulissat at 15:30 hours. The boat speeds over crystalline waters, with towering icebergs glistening under the Arctic sun.The journey is 2 hours. Relax and unwind with your first dinner at the camp, prepared using local ingredients.

Enjoy breakfast at the camp. Today you have a choice of two activities. The guide will meet with you after dinner on the day of arrival to discuss your preferences.  
Activities include fishing, taking a refreshing swim in the Arctic Ocean, paddleboarding among icebergs, hiking through breathtaking landscapes, whale safaris, and meeting the Greenlandic dogs. Immerse yourself in the local culture as you enjoy coffee with the locals, fish together, and learn traditional techniques like drying or smoking fish. All activities are individually adjusted to meet interest and fitness levels.

In the morning set out for Qullissat, the haunting ghost town on Qeqertarsuaq Island that once thrived as a coal mining hub. Established in 1924 and abandoned in 1968, Qullissat’s empty structures evoke the quiet resilience and history of Greenland’s people. The journey includes a transfer by dinghy, adding an element of adventure, as getting in and out can sometimes be tricky due to the tides and rocky shoreline.

In the afternoon paddleboard on the Inlet Lake. A short journey north from Saqqaq reveals a hidden saltwater inlet. Paddle through its glassy surface, surrounded by silence, save for the echo of water and wind. Ashore, traces of ancient Inuit life lie scattered, the remains of turf huts and whale bones in quiet testament. In this place, history and nature breathe as one, whispering tales to those who pause to listen.

After dinner, we will make a nice bonfire either outside the dining tent or on the beach and end the day with drinks - or maybe the famous Greenlandic coffee.

In the company of seabirds, walk the storied shore near Bird Mountain, with their cries weaving an ancient rhythm against the landscape. The path may reveal signs of an Arctic fox, darting in and out, a whisper of life amid vast wilderness. Here, remnants of turf houses linger, silent witnesses to the lives of those who called this shore home until 1913. End the journey with a traditional BBQ featuring local ingredients, cooked over an open fire on a flat rock, a quiet homage to time and history under the Arctic sky.

In the afternoon, join a short, one-hour visit to meet Greenlandic sled dogs and learn about their role in traditional Arctic life. These dogs, distinct from other breeds, are well adapted to Greenland’s harsh winters, and their role in daily life provides a unique insight into the region’s culture.

After breakfast, depart by boat from Saqqaq at 10:00 and transfer to the Airport.
